The Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame inducts 2 iconic songs written by Canadian composers this month – “When My Baby Smiles at Me” and “Vivre en amour”. I was honoured to perform live renditions of the songs with my band to celebrate part of our musical heritage.

First composed by Canadian Billy Munro in the early 20th century, When My Baby Smiles at Me has been recorded and performed by literally hundreds of artists, varying from big band and jazz ensembles to easy listening pop and country musicians.

Canadian song Vivre en amour written by Luc Cousineau and Roger Magnan was released on May 19, 1976 and quickly shot onto the Quebec radio play charts the following week, enjoying a total of 13 weeks on the charts including one week at No. 1.

The Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame (CSHF) launched Covered Classics in February 2015, a new element in its song induction program. A collaboration between the CSHF and CBC/Radio-Canada, Covered Classics publically honours songs newly inducted into the Hall of Fame with covers performed by our country’s brightest musical talent.
